The "Cherry Rose" Sunflower
This flower is similar to the "Royal Flush" variety from last year - however this beautiful sunflower is much more "cherry" colored. This variety also has that inner glow as seen in the picture above - it almost looks as if a night light has been plugged into the wall.

ENJOY the following pictures!
All photos were taken by me (Angie Ouellette-Tower) and the sunflowers were all grown in my garden (2012 Sunflower seeds were from Pinetree Garden Seeds).

Those are beautiful! I didn't know that sunflowers came in any color other than gold!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful variation. The deep maroon center is lovely and I especially like the dark cherry color that radiates out through the petals. It's quite an eye catcher.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE SUNFLOWERS!!! These are so pretty! Oh wow...I wish I could visit your lovely garden some day...

Thanks - that would be fun! - Maybe I should have a virtual video afternoon tea party in my garden next year :-)
DeleteHow long do they live? They're gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting/following from the hop.
Thanks - I plant them from seed and the seedlings pop up in early June but the actual flowers don't start to open until early August and usually last into September. I'm in Michigan so I'm sure that the timing is different the farther south you live.
DeleteI'm up north too, but I've never seen them. Thank you for your answer.
DeleteMy son married into a family where mom and dad grow sunflowers, big, beautiful yellow ones. I'll have to ask them if they've ever seen these kind!
I really love these pics! Great job! I also have only seen a sunflower in yellow. Thanks for sharing. Stopping by from the hop!
