The Red Admiral Butterfly

I have noticed many wonderful butterflies this spring season.  A few weeks ago I captured (on camera) the "Question Mark Butterfly" and today it is the "Red Admiral".  The Red Admiral Butterfly (or Vanessa atalanta) mainly resides in warmer areas but in spring migrates to more northern areas.  This butterfly species enjoys fruit blossoms, stinging nettle and false nettel.  It lives in moist wooded areas.  This butterfly was fluttering around so quickly which unfortunately resulted in fuzzy, unclear pictures.

Birdseed Beggars from the Squirrel Clan

I have had a love/hate relationship with the neighborhood squirrels.  On one hand, they are so cute and it's a joy to watch them during the winter months.  Then, during the summer, I loath them because they steal my organic garden produce.

This year, The Squirrel Clan have continued to eat all of the birdseed that we provide during the winter and they have become so bold that the beg at our living room window when it's time for us to refill the feeders.

NOTE about our window.  Please excuse the disgusting grime of our windows - they are original from the 1960's - the house has settled and unfortunately we are no longer able to take the windows apart to clean between window panes (we need new windows).

HIDDEN PICTURE SEARCH - Find the Crawlers & Critters GAME

Do you remember as a child playing those hidden picture games?  Well, I so enjoyed those games as a child and I thought it would be fun to do something similar with my 2018 garden photos.

Here's how it works:  there are 23 photos listed below and in these photos are insects or critters (some more visible than others).  Also, there are 2 insects that are totally unfamiliar to me - so if you are able to identify them please leave a comment below (Thank you).

All photos were taken by me (Angie Ouellette-Tower) and the sunflowers were all grown in my garden.
