What I'm Thankful for Today #2 - GOD'S LOVE
About ten years ago I did a series called "365 Days of Being THANKFUL". Everyday I posted something for which I was thankful and I did this for 365 days. Well, this year I decided to do a smaller version of that series and post something everyday during the month of November.
Today I am thankful for GOD'S LOVE.
I can not even begin to understand God's limitless love for His children (that's us)! Our Heavenly Father sent His only begotten Son to be sacrificed in our place so that we all might have eternal life!!
I thought this picture below was perfect for studying 1 John 4:12-21 because of the shape of the leaf - it resembles a heart. In the Scripture portion below we see that God's love is inside of us through the Holy Spirit. Whoever believes and declares that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is then filled with the Holy Spirit (see Bible verses below):
Fear is so prevalent in our society today. I never understood how people can seek and enjoy "fear" (horror) in movies, books and so on. In the Scripture passage below we see that "fear involves torment."
Let's define:
torment - great physical or mental pain; harassment, torture, misery.
Why would anyone ever want to feel that way even for a second???!!!!
Forgiving others is God's love in us. This can be so difficult, especially when others have wronged us and feel no remorse for doing so. Whenever I encounter a person who has wronged me and has no desire for repentance, I say this to myself:
"God loves that person just as much as He loves me."
Now, of course God does NOT love the sin, but He does love the person. Just like it says in the passage below: "he who loves God must love his brother also."
There's no truer statement than:
"God is love"
