Creamy Tomato Soup Made from Home Canned Tomato Sauce

This is a super easy lunch to make in the middle of winter, bringing some of that summer garden flavor to this snowy season.

1 quart home canned tomato sauce
1/3 cup whole milk  OR  1/4 cup cream (half & half)

In a large bowl pour out the can of tomato sauce.  With an immersion blender - completely mix the tomato sauce until all vegetable chunks have been blended into a smooth sauce (see both pictures above - before & after blending).  Now stir in the milk/cream.  Place on medium heat & bring almost to a boil (until completely warmed through).

Serve immediately & ENJOY!

  5. Love tomato soup.
? on your canned tomato sauce recipe tho.
Not listed in ingredients is how many lbs. of tomatoes you used.
Would be helpful if a person knew just how many lbs. tomatoes a person would need

    1. Hi Colleen, Thank you for stopping by my blog! I only ever use basket sizes (never by the lb - I don't have a scale lol). And, due to various tomato "juiciness" - the amount of tomatoes needed varies from year to year. However, I estimate that I used between 3 pecks and maybe up to 1 bushel of tomatoes for my tomato sauce recipe.
      Thanks again.

    2. Thank you. That gives me an idea on how many tomatoes I will need or how many plants I will need to plant
