All For YOU & ME! - Good Friday

All For YOU & ME! - Good Friday

Let's NEVER forget what Jesus Christ has done for ALL of us!  Please join me in reverent worship through song - Praising and thanking our Lord and Savior!

Turn with me to number 141 in your hymnals and let's sing:

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
written by Isaac Watts (1674-1748)   composed by Lowell Mason (1792-1872)

1. When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of glory died, My richest gain I count but loss, And pour contempt on all my pride.

2.   Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, Save in the death of Christ, my Lord;  All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His blood.

3.   See, from His head, His hands, His feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down;  Did e'er such love and sorrow meet, Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

4.   Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were a present far too small:  Love so amazing, so divine, Demands my soul, my life, my all.

A special thanks to "ChristianPraiseAndWorshipInSongs" for sharing this with us!

Turn with me to number 137 in your hymnals and let's sing:

Beneath the Cross of Jesus
written by Elizabeth C. Clephane (1830-1869) & composed by Frederick C. Maker (1844-1927)

1. Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand, The shadow of a mighty rock Within a weary land;  A home within the wilderness, A rest upon the way.  From the burning of the noon-tide heat, And the burden of the day.

2.   Upon that cross of Jesus Mine eye at times can see The very dying form of One Who suffered there for me;  And from my stricken heart with tears Two wonders I confess:  The wonders of redeeming love And my unworthiness.

3.   I take, O cross, they shadow For my abiding place;  I ask no other sunshine than The sunshine of His face;  Content to let the world go by, To know no gain nor loss, My sinful self my only shame, My glory all the cross.

A special thanks to "Kris Vonderahe" for sharing this with us!

Turn with me to number 143 in your hymnals and let's sing:

Lead Me to Calvary

by Jennie Evelyn Hussey, (1874-1958) composed by William J. Kirkpatrick,(1838-1921)

1. King of my life, I crown Thee now, Thine shall the glory be;  Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow, Lead me to Calvary.

CHORUS

2.   Show me the tomb where Thou wast laid, Tenderly mourned and wept;  Angels in robes of light arrayed Guarded Thee whilst Thou slept.

CHORUS

3.  Let me like Mary, through the gloom, Come with a gift to Thee;  Show to me now the empty tomb, Lead me to Calvary..

CHORUS

4.  May I be willing, Lord, to bear Daily my cross for Thee;  Even Thy cup of grief to share, Thou hast borne all for me.
CHORUS

Chorus
 Lest I forget Gethsemane;  Lest I forget Thine agony;
Lest I forget Thy love for me, Lead me to Calvary.
A special thanks to "Harding University Concert Choir- Topic" for sharing this with us!

Turn with me to number 165 in your hymnals and let's sing:
Crown Him With Many Crowns
by Matthew Bridges (1800-1894) and Godfrey Thring (1822-1903)
composed by George J. Elvey (1816-1893)
1. Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne;  Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns All music but its own.  Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who died for thee, And hail Him as thy matchless King Through all eternity.
2.   Crown Him the Lord of life, Who triumphed o'er the grave, And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save;  His glories now we sing Who died, and rose on high, Who died- eternal life to bring, And lives, that death may die.
3.  Crown Him the Lord of peace, Whose power a scepter sways From pole to pole, that wars may cease, And all be prayer and praise:  His reign shall know no end, And round His pierced feet Fair flowers of paradise extend Their fragrance ever sweet.

4.  Crown Him the Lord of love; Behold His hands and side, Those wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified:  All hail, Redeemer, hail!  For Thou hast died for me:  Thy praise and glory shall not fail Throughout eternity.
A special thanks to "Fountainview Academy " for sharing this with us!

Turn with me to number 139 in your hymnals and let's sing:

At The Cross
by Isaac Watts (1674-1748) composed by R. E. Hudson
1. Alas, and did my Saviour blee? And did my Sov'reign die?  Would He devote that sacred head For such a one as I?
CHORUS
2.   Was it for crimes that I have done, He groaned upon the tree?  Amazing pity!  grace unknown!  And love beyond degree!
CHORUS
3.  Well might the sun in darkness hide, And shut his glories in.  When Christ, the mighty Maker died For man, the creature's sin.
CHORUS

4.  But drops of grief can ne'er repay The debt of love I owe:  Here, Lord, I give myself away, 'Tis all that I can do!
CHORUS

Chorus
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, (rolled away) It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day!

Weekly Thankfulness & Growth Report #110

#110 - Weekly Thankfulness & Growth Report

If you were following this blog in 2015 then you will be familiar with my "365 Days of Being Thankful" challenge.  I have missed reporting on my thankfulness since I finished my challenge 2 years ago, so I decided to at least give a weekly Thankfulness Report & include a Growth Report also.  Growth in our Christian walk, growth in the garden & growth on this blog.  Finally, I am also including a "Posts From the Past" feature - ENJOY!

by Angie Ouellette-Tower for http://www.godsgrowinggarden.com/ photo WeeklyT_zpstrtwftz3.jpg
This week I have been thankful for good medical results!  I have also been thankful for my husband, parents, sister and my little cat.  I am most thankful that Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice for YOU, for ME and for EVERYONE!

by Angie Ouellette-Tower for http://www.godsgrowinggarden.com/ photo WeeklyCW_zps0mxvvxni.jpg

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are- yet was without sin.  Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."  Hebrews 4:14-16
Let us not forget why Jesus Christ gave His life for ALL of us!:

Features From The Toledo Museum of Art - GLASS #1

by Angie Ouellette-Tower for http://www.godsgrowinggarden.com/ photo ARTmuseum_zpslnluvrca.jpg
Features From My Visit to: The Toledo Museum of Art - GLASS #1

TMA (Toledo Museum of Art) is one of my favorite places in Toledo, Ohio.  I first visited this beautiful museum when I was in high school in Canada.  I grew up in the Windsor area and I was privileged to go to a high school with an advanced art program.  We actually visited the TMA twice throughout my high school career.  I had no idea when I was a teenager that I would actually marry an American and then settle in the Toledo area!  I now visit my favorite museum once a year.

I will be featuring a few items from the TMA each week.

Since this week is Holy Week I decided to start by featuring two stained glass windows from the 13th and 14th centuries.

by Angie Ouellette-Tower for http://www.godsgrowinggarden.com/ photo IMG_14105_zpspk9g0hhg.jpeg
The stained glass feature below has so much more detail in person that is not captured through my photograph.  When you are standing in front of this illumination there is an etching that gives each piece of glass dimension - fitting perfectly into the crucifixion being displayed.
