Psalm 91 - God Will........x10

Psalm 91 - God Will........x10

Normally, on the first Sunday of every month I do a "hymn" post but I felt led to do a post on Psalm 91.  The three Sunday series will be moved back a week (Hymn post next week, Trees the third week of September and then the final post in the Jude series on the final September Sunday).

Lately it seems as if everyone is dealing with extreme difficulty and are in a state of despair.  Psalm 91 is full of God's blessings and God saying "I will".  We will be studying the 10 times God said "I will......"

SundayWILL1

We begin Psalm 91 with God's protection promises right at the beginning in verses 1 & 2:

"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
He is my God, and I trust him."
Psalm 91:1-2

We will find rest when we live in the shelter provided by our Heavenly Father.  Rest is something that the modern man rarely gets anymore because of the constant hustle and bustle of society.
(Note - the word "shelter" also appears in verse 4)(I am using The New Living Translation)

SundayWILL2

God will rescue us from our enemies.  In the verse below we see that God is rescuing us from EVERY trap.  Speaking in modern terms, that could even mean rescuing us from word or Woke "traps".  What I mean by that is when everything that a Christian says is deemed "hate speech" and then in return that Christian is labeled a racist or homophobic or whatever - just because he/she might have stood up for what they believe.  (as an example: the Professional Baker who respectfully declined making a wedding cake for a gay couple but then was sued.  The baker won that case by the way - God rescuing him from the trap of "wokeism").

"For He will rescue you from every trap....."
Psalm 91:3

SundayWILL3

This verse implies that God will protect us from even getting a disease.  It doesn't say that He will provide a cure for whatever deadly disease you have (I believe He can do that also of course) but rather that He will protect you from getting that disease!!

".......and protect you from deadly disease."
Psalm 91:3

SundayWILL4

"He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday."
Psalm 91:4-6

There is no fear and no dread of anything that could happen at night or during the day.  No fear in the darkness nor in the light.  That means no fear or dread anytime of any day.

SundayWILL5

When we make Lord God Almighty our priority, then no evil can overcome us.  We will still see evil all around us but it will not have any control over us.

"Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.

If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your home."
Psalm 91:7, 9-10

SundayWILL6

I think this is my favorite verse in chapter 91 - what goes on in the spiritual realm is mind boggling.  God orders His "angels" (Plural) to protect us WHEREVER we go.

"For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go.
They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone."
Psalm 91:11-12

SundayWILL7

"When they call on me, I will answer;"
Psalm 91:15

All we have to do is call on Him.

SundayWILL8

"I will be with them in trouble."
Psalm 91:15

We will NEVER have to endure a difficult situation alone - He will be with us.  If you are thinking:  "I thought he would rescue us" - Yes, He will, but His timing is not our timing.  The rescue might not happen right away, so in the mean time HE IS WITH US every second of every day.

SundayWILL9

"I will reward them with a long life."
Psalm 91:16

When we love God and trust Him - then we will be rewarded with a long life!

SundayWILL10

".......and give them my salvation."
Psalm 91:16

Salvation is the free gift of eternal life because Jesus Christ died for our sins when He was crucified on the cross and then rose from the dead!!  He did this so that EVERYONE who accepts this gift will receive eternal life.

What amazing blessings from our Lord God almighty!
