Christian Camp Songs & Chorus Hymns

I spent many years in my late teens and early twenties working at Christian Camps.  I even met my husband at a Christian camp.  These wonderful memories of great experiences make Christian camp songs very special to me.

On top of featuring an old hymn each month in what I call "Old Fashioned Sunday Hymn Sing" - I will also be featuring a chorus hymn every month - ENJOY!
This featured song is probably the first song that anyone thinks of when speaking about camp songs.  The phrase "Kum ba yah" actually means "Come by here" - it was written for the purpose of asking God to "come by here" and help those in need.  The original language of this song was "Gullah" - a creole language spoken by people living on the coast of South Carolina.  This language has a base of both English & West Aftrican languages.

"..for where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them"
Matthew 18:20

Please take time to  listen to both YouTube videos below the lyrics .  The first version is the exact tune that  I remember but with a few extra verses.  The second version is a medley with two other songs and is slowed down incredibly, but the campfire is meant to be with this hymn - I can't imagine it any other way.
