365 Days of Being THANKFUL - DAY#153

A few months ago I decided that I would start a new series on this blog called: "365 Days of Being THANKFUL".  The more I thought about it the more I felt led by God but then at the same time I started wondering if I would be able to do this for a whole year!  One month of being thankful is measurable let alone hundreds of days!
So, I am now 1/3 of the way through my challenge - I must be able to find something each day that I am thankful for since I am so blessed.

DAY#153- Today I am thankful for my daily devotional

GROWTH - Little by Little - Slow & Steady

"Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow."  Proverbs 13:11

GROWTH - Little By Little, Slow & Steady
It's Springtime and growth is all around!  What a perfect time to talk about "Growth" in our Christian walk.

We live in a society that is anything but slow and steady:  fast food, instant download, immediate gratification, fast tracking through school, starting a career at the top, buying a dream home way above our means etc.   By living this way we have eliminated the growth period - it takes time to grow and so much is learned and experienced during GROWTH.

I believe that the featured verse above can be applied to other areas of our faith other than just our financial morals.  As an example - We did not go from making a decision to follow Jesus and then becoming a minister overnight - this takes time and growth.

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven."  Ecclesiastes 3:1

Everything takes it's own time under God's guidance and that timing will be different for all of us.  Granted, God's plan for some of us might include a decision that will change our circumstance almost overnight.  However, when that type of a decision & growth occurs under God's plan then most likely growth was happening previously and we might not have even realized that it was occurring.

" 'For I know the plans I have for you.' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' "  Jeremiah 29:11

Growth from God's guidance takes patience and obedience.  Figuring out what God's plan is for our life also requires growth and takes time spent in prayer and meditation on scripture.  Remember God's timing is not our timing.

"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends;  With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."  2 Peter 3:8

Be careful not to go to the other extreme - instead of growing you rot in the spot where you currently live.  When you become lazy or fall back into the way of the world you have become a stagnant Christian and are no longer seeking God's guidance or are just ignoring His urgings.

"You need milk, not solid food!  Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness, But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil."  Hebrews 5:13 & 14

Continue growing in your Christian walk without getting impatient about timing, all the while being careful not to become a stagnant Christian.
