Unseen Protection from God

There have been many times on this blog when we have talked about how our Christian walk is more spiritual than physical.  The Bible verse below explains it perfectly:  

One area that we have not really focused on is the unseen protection that our Heavenly Father provides for His children (that's us!).  I am talking about angels.

This unseen realm that is around us every second of every day would be terrifying if it were not for the safety that we find in Jesus Christ our Savior.

The verse below is just wonderful!  Firstly, let's define the word "encamp."

Encampment - temporary dwelling for the purpose of organization for battle.

I picture a circle of angels surrounding each one of us, making it impossible for any evil to reach us in the center of that protection.  That circle would be impenetrable.

It is very important to note that in the verse above it says "those who fear Him".  Therefore, there will be no protection for the unbeliever, or for the one who goes against God and does evil.

Children have extra special protection.  Checkout what Jesus said in this Scripture passage below:

Remember the serious consequence if someone does harm any child:

"It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble."

Luke 17:2

Then, all throughout the Bible we see how God protected and guided His people by sending angels ahead of their travels, or by whisperings, or through dreams and visions.

Let's talk about the angelic celebration that occurs when just one person repents and follows Jesus.  I imagine it being a heaven-wide jubilation!  

Lastly, it is vital that we do NOT worship angels in any way.  Only God is to be worshiped.  See what John was told in the book of Revelation: 

It does not matter if you never have a personal encounter with one of God's angels - just know that our Heavenly Father is always providing unseen protection to His children.

SECRECY #9 - Numerology / Gematria

Today is the ninth part in the study about "secrecy."   The topic for today's post is rather mysterious and not of God (even though some may twist it that way).

Our topic today is "Numerology or Gematria".  

We'll begin by defining both terms:   

Numerology -  the study of occult meanings of numbers and their supposed influence on human life

Gematria - a numerological system used in kabbalah and other forms of Jewish mysticism

Those two definitions brings us to two other words that need defining:  "occult" and "kabbalah".

Occult -  of, relating to, or dealing with supernatural or magical influences, agencies or occurrences.

Kabbalah - a secret doctrine/ mystical teachings of rabbinical origin, based on esoteric interpretations of the Scriptures.

I will not go into detail about how these two deceptive systems but just give basic examples.

In numerology they have certain numbers that mean certain things.  As an example they believe that the number 11 means enlightenment or wisdom.  Examples of occult practices are: divination (tarot reading, astrology), magic (spells, rituals), necromancy (communicating with the dead).  All of which are NOT Christian.

Gematria gives each letter a number according to that letter's place in the alphabet (eg - A=1, B=2, C=3 and so on).  We'll use the word GARDEN as an example:

G  A  R  D  E  N

 7  1  18  4  5  14

  

7 + 1 + 18 + 4 + 5 + 14 = 49

Then they find other words that have the same value as "49".  Danger, green and beetle all have the value of 49.  These other "49" valued words are then used to say or predict the meaning of garden - like "danger green beetles."  They might say that when "garden" appears in Scripture it also means "be cautious of green beetles".  This also is NOT Christian.

Now, I'm not saying that numbers are bad - numbers are very important in the Bible.  A few years ago I did a post showing the significance of Jesus and the number "3".

 - When God was creating the world he numbered each day

- We are to forgive each other "70 x 7" (Matthew 8:22)

- Two are better than one (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

- Teach us to number our days (Psalm 90:12)

- Genealogies / generations

- God numbers and knows all of the hosts/angels/stars:

"Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:

    Who created all these?

He who brings out the starry host one by one

    and calls forth each of them by name.

Because of his great power and mighty strength,

    not one of them is missing."

Isaiah 40:26

Using numbers to create spells and predict the future is NOT from God.  Secret calculations do NOT glorify Jesus Christ.

And today, on Christmas day we have GREAT JOY! 

When researching for this series, I was amazed at how many times the word "joy" occurs in the Bible!  Just like all previous Advent posts this season we will begin with basic definitions of each word:

Joy - the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires.  Bliss, cheer, delight, glee. 

Great - remarkable in magnitude, degree or effectiveness. 

In the Scripture passage below we clearly see the reason that we have GREAT JOY!

And that GREAT JOY continues when Jesus rose from the dead and when He ascended into heaven (see both Bible passages below):

Since we are filled with the Holy Spirit, this GREAT JOY continues throughout our life.  Through this GREAT JOY we share, lift each other up and strengthen one another.

Let's make sure to show our Jesus Joy for the rest of our lives:

Joy & Gladness

Joy & Peace

Overflowing & Joy-Filled

Shout, Sing & Leap for Joy
