Usually, sunflower season here on God's Growing Garden starts at the beginning of September but I had a late start and then we had a big storm (click HERE to read "Sunflower Season & the Storm"). I grew three varieties this year (actually, I grew four but the fourth was a joke - I'll explain in a different post). This is the first sunflower post of 2026. Today I am featuring: "TAIYO" Sunflower variety.
I'm sure that you can tell by the name of this sunflower variety that it originated in Japan. I really like the tiny little yellow dots that swirl around the dark middle - they look like miniature beads.

Before showing the featured pictures, I wanted to remind you why sunflowers are my favorite flower. Sunflowers always turn towards the sun - you can literally see them gently turning throughout the day to follow the sun. To be very clear - I am NOT a "sun" worshiper. However, I am a "Son" worshiper: Jesus Christ, the Son of God and I strive every day to grow and turn towards Him in every aspect of my life.
