7 Edible Homegrown Mushrooms

7 Edible Homegrown Mushrooms

Last year I grew mushrooms for the first time.  It was so enjoyable that we decided to grow mushrooms inside during the winter.  I had no idea that there are so many different mushroom varieties!
I wanted to showcase 7 varieties that I grew this year:
Snow Oyster
Pink Oyster
Morel (wild, grown outside)
Golden Oyster
Lion's Mane
Italian Oyster
Blue Oyster

(If you want to grow your own mushrooms click HERE for mushroom supplies )

SNOW OYSTER MUSHROOMS

This variety prefers a cooler environment and they are very prolific.

PINK OYSTER MUSHROOMS

A much warmer climate is necessary for this variety to fully grow to an edible size.  These mushrooms keep "flushing" over and over again (A "flush" is a new crop).

2022-1-3

MOREL MUSHROOMS

These mushrooms grow wild outside usually in early May.

2021-10-012(1)

GOLDEN OYSTER MUSHROOMS

Another variety that prefers warm temperatures.

2022-2-029

LION'S MANE MUSHROOMS

This mushroom is probably the most important of all 7 varieties detailed today because it is medicinal as well as culinary.

2022-1-006

ITALIAN OYSTER MUSHROOMS

This variety is the largest of the oyster mushrooms that I grew.

2022-2-030

BLUE OYSTER MUSHROOMS

These mushrooms are the easiest to grow and they are also the most meaty of these 7 varieties.

Biblical Anatomy #12 - LIPS

SundayBiblicalAnatomy12

Biblical Anatomy #12 - LIPS
Today we continue studying in the series called "Biblical Anatomy."

Anatomy - is the study of parts and structures of organisms.

What is "Biblical Anatomy" you might ask?  It is the study of the structure of the Christian Body.

Today we focus on LIPS (In the previous Biblical Anatomy post we learned that the lips, along with tongue & teeth are part of the mouth):

Lips- "two fleshy folds that surround the mouth in humans
          (they are organs of speech)".

The purpose of the human's lips is much more than just having a part in the eating process.  The lips are vital to linguistics - forming our words.  Then there is also expressions - what would a smile be like without lips?  Also, making music - not just singing but whistling and using those same motions to play wind instruments.  And then don't forget about kissing.  The lips are multi-functional.
Let's turn our focus to Biblical lips - it boils down to two categories:
Negative
Positive

Negative

"Abomination" is such a strong word - it doesn't get much worse.  (Abomination - abhorrence, disgust)(see verse below).  I don't ever want my Lord God to be disgusted with me.  The first verse below shows us how important it is to live a life of truth.

SundayBiblicalAnatomy12C

In the second verse above we learn that what really fills our heart will "roll off our lips".  If we are wicked at heart, then our words and expressions will show that wickedness.

Positive

A few years ago I did a series on Psalm 119 and the Hebrew Alphabet.  Verse 171 is especially perfect for this topic - "May our lips overflow with praise" to our Heavenly Father (click HERE to view "Psalm 119 - TAW Hebrew Alphabet")

by Angie Ouellette-Tower for https://www.godsgrowinggarden.com/ photo SundayPsalm119TAW2_zpsthiqwlsm.jpg

The two verses below seem to belong together.  Let me explain - when we have understanding that can only come from God, then His wisdom will overflow from our mouths.  That "understanding" gives us wisdom to know when or when not to speak (thinking before "opening wide our lips")

Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding,"
Proverbs 10:13
He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction."
Proverbs 13:3'

Actually, this third verse below adds even more to my point.  Not only does wisdom help us in our timing of when to hold our words in or not, but also what words are "acceptable" to use for that situation.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse."
Proverbs 10:32

SundayBiblicalAnatomy12A

Finally, I really like the description in the verse below: "fruit of our lips."  Just like the "fruit of the Spirit",our words can glorify God.
The tone, timing and quality of the words we use can be a witness to those around us.

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the
fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.  But do not forget to do good and to share,
for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."
Hebrews 13:15-16

Let's praise our Heavenly Father with our lips because His lovingkindness is better than life!

22 Treasures - SALADS

TreasuresSALADS

22 Treasures - SALADS

In February of this year there were two palindromic dates: 2/20/2022 & 2/22/22 (palindromic meaning it is the same from left to right or from right to left - 2202022 & 22222).  The number 2 is an interesting number.  There is no other number that I can think of that has the same result when it is added to itself and multiplied by itself [I am not a mathematician so I could be wrong.  And, I am not including zero because zero is nothing (literally nothing 0 + 0 = 0 and 0 x 0 = 0)]:
2 + 2 = 4
2 x 2 = 4
Four is the same answer whether 2 is added or multiplied by itself.

With that being said, since 22 (2 and 2) are so unique, I thought I'd continue posting this series during the year 2022 called:
22 Treasures
In this series I will pick a topic (like - SALADS) and I will feature 22 treasured blog posts from this blog about that topic.  And, that topic will be split into 4 different categories.

Today I am featuring SALADS in these 4 categories:
Pasta Salad
Fruit Salad
Veggie Salad
Growing

(Please click on each title below to view the entire post - ENJOY!)
