DAY#5  Jesus is the Bridge Advent Calendar

Welcome to Advent Season 2023!!  Advent is the season that begins the celebration of Jesus' coming to earth.  The word "Advent" is derived from the Latin word "adventus" which means "coming".  During Advent, Christians celebrate the birth of the Messiah Jesus but it is also a time to prepare for the second coming of Christ. 

I have featured a different Advent calendar each year since 2016.  This year we are featuring "Jesus is the Bridge" calendar.  Actually, this calendar does not have a Christian message - however, I have adapted it to show the true meaning of Christmas - The birth of Jesus Christ our Savior!!

Why the bridge you might be asking?  Well, Jesus Christ is the reason why there is no longer any division between us.  In Galatians 3:28 (see picture below) we learn that we are ALL one in Christ.  That means it does NOT matter what color your skin is, nor what gender, it does not matter if you are from Palestine or from Israel and it does NOT matter which way you lean (politically speaking).  WE ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST - Jesus is the bridge that gets rid of all division and separation. 

Today is December 5th and I am opening Box5

Inside we find:

A beautiful living room in the process of being decorated.

Jesus is the Bridge over war and destruction, connecting us to peace and stability.   

"My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest."

Today is December 3rd and I am opening Box3

Inside we find:

People mailing Christmas cards.

I need to be very clear - "santa" is NOT Christmas.  I believe that this childhood story or "harmless fun" is actually harmful.  Even though I was raised with this fairy tale, I really feel that it is deceptive and unnecessary.

Today's Advent calendar opening is about communication and in the body of Christ that means prayer.

Jesus is the Bridge over miscommunication and confusion - when we pray to our Heavenly Father in Jesus Name we receive clear and precise guidance and provision.   

"Tell your sins to each other. And pray for each other so you may be healed. The prayer from the heart of a man right with God has much power." 

James 15:16

People shopping for Christmas gifts and specifically from an antique store.

In the Scripture passage below we learn that when we are filled and led by the Holy Spirit, then we are ALL adopted by God - and this is because of Jesus Christ.  He (Jesus) is the Bridge that goes over the rapidly flowing stream of fear and connects us to freedom;  to safety;  to prosperity;  to family!!  We have become heirs/coheirs with Christ!!

"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.  The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.  And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”  The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.  Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ"

A scene where a family is decorating for Christmas using fresh cedar/pine roping and carrying in a freshly cut Christmas tree.
