God's Abundant LOVE

SundayAbundantLove

God's Abundant LOVE

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day which is supposed to be about love, but this holiday is not about true love - True Love can only come from God.  Our Heavenly Father has an abundant supply of love for EVERYONE.  He has enough love to last every second of every day, yesterday, today, tomorrow and into infinity.

Abundance - an ample quantity, plentitude

When we study the passage below we see that Paul was trying to describe the depth and extent of God's love for all of us.  That we might be able to "comprehend the width, length, depth & height of the love of Christ" for EVERYONE.
Paul prayed that Christ would dwell in our hearts.  Since Jesus dwells in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, that means that His love spreads through all of His children - everywhere and throughout time.  God's love is mind boggling!

God's Love is abundant and He blesses us abundantly.  Look at the underlined verse below: "He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think."  God's loving blessings are better than we could ever imagine.

SundayAbundantLove2

Abound - to be great in number or amount.

And this abundance exponentially continues to grow through us (see passage below).  Since we are blessed in all things, at all times, having all that we need means that we are able to help those around us.  Our good actions abound - great amount.  Goodness upon goodness upon goodness.

Finally, I know what you are saying:  "there's so much suffering, it doesn't make sense" - think of these "blessings" in the eternal sense.  We can't think in the worldly sense - "I want 5 cars and 10 houses" - that might be what you want but that's not what we need - God provides what we need according to His Will/Purpose.

SundayAbundantLove3

God's abundant love blessing is eternal, through Jesus Christ our Lord & Savior!

Learning From History #2 - NUREMBERG TRIALS 1945-1949

LearningFromHistory2(1)

Learning From History #2 - NUREMBERG TRIALS 1945-1949

Over the past few years I have been very concerned that the world is repeating history.  I know that many parts of the history that we are teaching our younger generation has been watered down and even outright twisted into a falsehood. This "history tweaking" is happening just because the truth might "offend" someone.  I know for a fact that this history twisting has happened because many of my family members lived through and remember World War II.

In this series we are going to study the difficult parts of history that might have recently, intentionally or unintentionally been overlooked.

Clarification/Disclaimer - I hesitated to include a disclaimer because this might do the very thing that I am trying to avoid - candy-coat history and thereby not tell the whole truth.  The information below is a brief summary of the Nuremberg Trials after WWII.  By no means am I saying nor implying that I hate nor discriminate against any race, nationality, gender or religious group.  I am also NOT condoning any behavior/action detailed in history.

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world."
1 John 4:1

LearningFromHistory2A

I don't ever remember being taught about the Nuremberg Trials in high school history class - Do you recall reviewing this topic in school?  I remember clearly learning about the atrocities of the World Wars but nothing about the Nuremberg Trials.  Either I have a gap in my memory or the "sensitivity" truth twisting already started in the 1980's.

Let's learn the basics today.  These trials were held in Nuremberg, Germany from 1945 to 1949 with the purpose of  bringing Nazi war criminals to justice.  Four of the allied nations (Britain, France, Soviet Union and the United States of America) established and issued the laws and procedures for these trials on August 8, 1945.

There were 3 categories of crimes:

Crimes against peace - such as planning and waging wars of aggression, which were in violation of international agreements at that time.

War crimes - such as violating laws of war (improper treatment of civilians & prisoners of war)

Crimes against humanity - such as enslavement, deportation & even murder of civilians or persecution based on religion, race or politics.

Politicians, military officials, businesses, doctors, members of the media, lawyers are all examples of people who were indicted in these trials.

Stating "I was just doing what I was told to do by my boss" was NOT an acceptable defense.

Read the quote from Hermann Goering in the picture above and just look at the evil, smug expression on his face.  Goering was convicted and was sentenced to be hanged but committed suicide the night before his execution.

LearningFromHistory2B(1)

I know that it is extremely difficult to resist the mainstream, but if we see history being repeated by those around us - we can be that spark of light that shines through the darkness.  Jesus' Truth shining through our actions can overpower the evilness of this world.

Homegrown Blue Oyster Mushrooms (simply sauteed)

Homegrown Blue Oyster Mushrooms (simply sauteed)

Last year I grew mushrooms for the first time.  It was so enjoyable that we decided to grow mushrooms inside during the winter.
(to view the mushroom post from last summer see below:)
2021-10-11
(click HERE to view that post)

(If you want to grow your own mushrooms click HERE for mushroom supplies )

We are still new to homegrown mushrooms but so far our favorite way to consume Oyster mushrooms is to saute them until they are a little crispy.  They taste nuttier than regular button mushrooms.

The next four photos below show the "Blue Oyster" mushrooms growing.  You will notice some deformed smaller mushrooms - I had an issue with the airflow but quickly fixed that problem (as you can see by the large full grown "shrooms" ).

Harvesting the mushrooms.  I sliced the oysters off as they became large enough because they seemed to be ready to harvest at different rates.  I am still new to "mycology" but I have seen these mushrooms harvested by cluster and not one at a time.  I'm still learning so my next post might have a different method for harvesting.  (see harvested mushrooms below).

unnamed_(272)

To prepare Oyster mushrooms for sauteeing simply shred (rip shreds) by hand (see picture below).  Stop once you get to the part of the stem that can not be shredded by hand and then discard (compost) the tough stem portion.

unnamed_(270)

Fully shredded (see picture below):

unnamed_(269)

To Saute.  In a large frying pan melt a tablespoon of butter along with a few tablespoons of olive oil (you might need more depending on the amount of mushrooms).  In the collage below you will notice the progression when cooking and how they shrink to half their original size.

2022-1-004

Continue sauteeing until they resemble the picture below.
