Rustic Outdoor Sink for Washing Garden Produce

Rustic Outdoor Sink for Washing Garden Produce

Every summer and during the harvest season I soak and rinse my garden produce inside the house in the kitchen.  I use a large tub and then throw the gritty water outside so that the dirt does not go down and clog the drain.  Well, thankfully this past winter we had to have a new kitchen sink installed.  The old one leaked and could not be repaired (it was the original from the 1960's).  My husband is a garden genius and instead of throwing the sink away he thought "we should make an outdoor sink for our garden produce".  Genius!

He built a rustic stand and hooked up a hose - it's a beautiful setup!  One side is for soaking and the other for rinsing.  The water just runs through the drain and onto the land below.

Since these pictures mostly show tomatoes and zucchini I decided to share some of my favorite recipe creations including those garden vegetables (yes, I know, tomatoes are technically fruit).

  1. I love this. We replaced our kitchen sink a year ago, and have our old one sitting beside the house - this is exactly what I want to do. Your post just reminded me! Thanks.

  2. Angie,
I love this sink. So perfect. Congratulations, you are being featured on Thursday Favorite Things.
