Christian Camp Songs & Chorus Hymns #17

I spent many years in my late teens and early twenties working at Christian Camps.  I even met my husband at a Christian camp.  These wonderful memories of great experiences make Christian camp songs very special to me.

On top of featuring an old hymn each month in what I call "Old Fashioned Sunday Hymn Sing" - I will also be featuring a chorus hymn every month - ENJOY!
Today's featured song is "O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus" was written and composed by Samuel Trevor Francis.  This author had a spiritual turning point when he was about to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge on the River Thames.  God stopped him that night - his faith was renewed and he wrote many hymns until finally becoming a preacher.

Please take time to listen to both YouTube videos below the lyrics.  The first video is sung in the original tune, the second video is more the way I remember and there are extra verses in the second version.

O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus
by Samuel Trevor Francis (1834-1925)
1. O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!  Rolling as a mighty ocean In it's fullness over me.

2.  Underneath me, all around me, Is the current of Thy love;  Leading onward, leading homeward To my glorious rest above.

3.  O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Love of every love the best;  "Tis an ocean vast of blessing, 'Tis a haven sweet of rest.

4.  O the deep, deep love of Jesus, "Tis a Heav'n of Heav'ns to me;  And it lifts me up to glory. For it lifts me up to Thee.
