JUDE#2 - Contend for the Faith
This is part#2 in this new series on Jude. The book of Jude is a very small book in the Bible but it is packed with many wonderful lessons to be learned. We will be studying the entire book of Jude in seven different parts.

It doesn't take Jude long to reveal what the true topic of his letter is going to be - it's actually more of a warning. We'll begin by defining a couple words (even though we might think we know the meaning). I am always surprised to realize that I'm often off on the details of word definitions.
Exhort - to urge strongly; to give warnings or advice
Contend - to struggle for; to strive against difficulties
To reword that sentence in modern verbiage it might sound something like this:
"I am begging you/ urging you to continue on in your Christian walk even when times are extremely evil and difficult."
We see in verse 4 why Jude was giving such a warning (see picture below).
I believe this is happening everywhere - that such worldly evil has crept into every aspect of our lives, even in churches, Christian organization, Christian schools and so on. I am reminded of the Scripture passage that talks about satan being the father of lies:
"He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

We see that satan was a murderer from the beginning and this is what I believe is being referenced in the underlined portion of Jude verse 4a "long ago being condemned". This condemnation is for the fallen angels and anyone who follows satan and his lies.
The quotes below speak for themselves:
These ungodly people are twisting the truth into the most foul pack of lies. Since "lewdness" is not a common word in modern day speech let's define that word:
Lewdness - evil, wicked, obscene, vulgar
Unfortunately, that is exactly what is happening everywhere. Jesus' truth is being twisted and manipulated into the most offensive immorality unimaginable.
Lastly, the denial of Jesus Christ will be detrimental to your eternity. Remember that Jesus Is the Way, Truth & life - NO ONE gets to the Father except through Him!
satan is real but Our Heavenly Father can and will defeat satan in a millisecond with just a puff of His breath!
Our God is an Awesome God and He is worth "contending for the faith", even in extremely difficult times!
