Repurposed Windows Made Into A Cold Frame
A couple years ago, we had our old 1960's windows replaced and we kept the old windows because my husband had a vision of what to do with the old ones. It's a temporary, take-down & rebuildable cold frame for starting plants.
My husband made a 2x4 track to place the windows into on both sides and then staked them from the outside. He placed windows on top and at the back and front and voila!!! Afterwards, we will take it apart and store the windows in the shed until next sprintime. A perfect way to reuse, recycle and repurpose old windows.
I know, it looks a little junky from the outside but the plants don't care and in a few weeks this garden patch will be cleared, tilled and planted with sweet potatoes and sunflowers.
(We also transformed an old sink into a wonderfully practical outdoor sink!! - see below):
You can see the young plant starters inside.
Cucumbers, squash, basil.......
......tomatoes & more!
