Obedience Series#8 - What Happens When Those in Authority Ask You To Go Against God's Law?

by Angie Ouellette-Tower for photo SundayStandUp_zps8vqj357x.jpg

Obedience#8 - What Happens When Those in Authority Ask You To Go Against God's Law?

Last week we studied scripture showing that God wants us to obey authority.  However, what happens when somebody in a position of authority asks you to do something against God's Law?  Well, what did Jesus do?

Let's study the verses above - Jesus saw that people were selling doves in God's temple and as soon as He saw this he put a stop to it by turning over the tables.  What Jesus did was NOT a sin - he made His point and it was very clear.  God's house is not a market but rather a "house of prayer."

There will be times in our lives when we will need to stand up for what is right even if it goes against what those in authority are requesting.  When this happens and you need to fight for what is right - there are two equally important things to remember:

1.   We are only responsible for our own actions.
EXAMPLE - If your boss asks you to bill an insurance company under a false name and therefore you would be committing insurance fraud - you must decline.  However, if your boss decides to do that billing himself - then you did nothing wrong and the sin and consequences will be on your boss's shoulders.

2.  Standing up for what is right will NEVER cause you to sin
EXAMPLE - I agree that abortion is murder, HOWEVER, blowing up an abortion clinic is also murder.  You can NOT fight sin with sin.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the  heavenly realms."  Ephesians 6:10-12

How to Organize Sprinkles
Hoosier Homemade

This is the year to declutter and get organized! At the beginning of a new year, we all have great intentions of getting organized. Some do better than others and stay on track, I’ve slipped off that track the last couple of years. So this year, I’m tackling each of the rooms in our home with small projects. My baking cupboard was out of control, I tackled it and I’m sharing with you how to Organize Sprinkles.

My Favorite Natural Stress Relief Techniques + Homemade Headache Salve Recipe!
Must Have Mom

We all have stress in our lives. As a busy mom of four I can definitely pinpoint the areas in my life that stress me out most. I work from home and balancing being a full time mom to four kids under the age of 7 and trying to complete my work each day is definitely stressful. Add keeping up on laundry, dishes and housework to that list. Then top it off with trying to be a good wife, friend, sister, daughter, etc and you’ve got a recipe for stress! I know you can all relate.

The Crafting Nook

If you have been around for a while you probably know I’m all about creating a nice decoration for my girl’s bedroom. I’m slowly creating different things to make her room as girly as she can be. She’s obsessed with anything absolutely girly; she only wants to wear dresses {princess-like} and bracelets, princess shoes, etc…

Starburst Granny Square Arm Warmers

The idea for these Starburst Granny Square Arm Warmers came to me over Christmas, but it took a bit of time to perfect them and get them blog-ready. I am so excited that I finished and I can finally share them with you!

These CopyCat Lofthouse Cookies are very similar to the ones you will find at the stores. The simply soft cake like sugar cookie topped with buttercream frosting is sure to melt in your mouth.

Pastels & Macarons

My skin has needed a good detox for a while. Lately it has been feeling congested, dull, rough and needing some serious TLC. I started thinking about all of my concerns with my skin and came up with a hydrating, antioxidant Vanilla And Green Tea Oatmeal Face Scrub to give my skin the kick start it needs and inject some life back into it!

Best Valentine Cookies! – “Flavor Cookie”

I am not kidding!
This is the best cookie! It is not just a sugar cookie. It has a wonderful cherry-almond flavor! You won’t eat plain sugar cookies again!
