Favorite Scripture Sunday #1

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."  John 3:16

I have many favorite Bible verses - almost an endless list really.  I decided to share these bits of God's Word with you once a month on what I am calling "Favorite Scripture Sunday."  I will talk a little bit about that verse and I would love it if you would leave comments on how that verse has impacted your life & what you believe that God is telling you through that verse.

Today's verse is a favorite of many....John 3:16 - the basis of our Christian beliefs.  What strikes me is that "God so loved the world" - the world means everyone! - It doesn't matter what race, age or gender you are - God's saving love is for you!  And all you have to do is believe - accept that free gift of forgiveness through His Son Jesus Christ and you will live forever!

This was one of the first Bible verses that I memorized and it is still near and dear to my soul.

How has this verse impacted your life?

  1. Hi Angie: God made it very simple, didn't He? All a person has to do is believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and God acknowledges that. Some people believe their whole lives, but their lives don't seem to change much for the better.

There are those who die in poverty, die in addictions, die in depression, etc., believing their whole life that they will be freed from those things. Some enjoy deliverance from them, and some do not. Those who do not enjoy deliverance are not any less believers than others.

We don't know why the lives of some seem to be more blessed here in this life than others. But all who insist on believing in Jesus Christ and His power till they die, shall be resurrected to everlasting life. That's really where EVERYTHING will be wonderful, perfect and great! We work daily to realize an improved and beneficial life through the power of His Word. To whatever extent we realize it, in the end we will truly have it all. And we won't even have to try anymore. That's what believing in Christ's sacrifice does for me.

Have an extra special Sunday and thanks for this lesson,
    Sandi

Thank You.
