Energy, Frequency & Vibration #14 - PURPLE
This is part 14 in the series on "Energy, Frequency & Vibration." Last year we learned about the frequency of color and I mentioned that in the future we will go through each color in more detail. Today, is the final color in the color chart below. We are studying the color PURPLE and we will focus on what significance that color has in the Bible.
Just to refresh our memories - below is the frequency chart from the previous COLOR post:
In Bible commentaries, the color "PURPLE" is used to symbolize royalty, repentance, and God's love, power, holiness and majesty.
The color purple was very important in the Old Testament - there were detailed requirements for the altar, tabernacle and when Solomon built the temple. (see Bible verses below):
If you recall, in the Covenant series that we did last Fall, we learned that the Tribe of Levi were responsible for taking care of the Tabernacle and Covenant Law.
Last year we studied the 7 Covenants - click HERE to read about the Levitical/Priestly Covenant.
Purple clothing was also very significant and was a sign of royalty.
In the Old Testament, Daniel was given status and clothed in purple after he interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar's dream.
Also, the "wife of noble character" in Proverbs 31 was clothed in purple.
The most important example was when the soldiers mockingly robed Jesus in purple just before He was crucified.
The soldiers blasphemously clothed Jesus in purple but Jesus rightly deserves to be in purple because He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords forever and ever.
(see Bible verses below):
Finally, let's talk about "Lydia" in the New Testament. After Paul was preaching, a business woman named Lydia became a believer in Jesus Christ. She was a "dealer in purple cloth" (see verse below):
I didn't know what a "dealer in purple cloth" really meant so I did some research.
In New Testament times, making purple dye was very difficult. Purple dye was made from the "murex sea snail." While these "snails" are larger than the small snails that we might find in the garden, they still required thousands of sea snails to produce a small amount of dye. This means that Lydia was a successful and wealthy woman.
Paul stayed with Lydia twice but I also read that Lydia's house became a base for the Christians in that city.
Even today the color purple is not the most common color. It is special and perfect for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
