By Your FAITH #4 - Being Sure of What We Do Not See

This post is the fourth part in a series called: "By Your Faith".  In this series we will be going through Hebrews chapter 11; studying the faith of many prophets and other important Old Testament people.  Today is the introduction to Hebrews chapter 11.

Our topic today is:  Being Sure of What We Do Not See

In our Bible study today, we will be focusing on just the first three verses of Hebrews chapter 11.  These verses are quite deep.  Take verse 1 (see below), faith is being certain of what we do not see.

I always look at different Bible versions and found an old 1805 version that has a sidenote about faith - it is quite good (they sure had long sentences back then and seemed to use commas much more than we do today):

"Faith gives a sort of present subsistence in the mind to, and a confident expectation of future blessings, which, by the infallible promise of God, are as fully ascertained and realized to the believer's comfort, as if he actually possessed them.  And, merely on the credit of divine revelation, it gives us a clear and convincing a demonstration of invisible things as if they were ever so plainly exhibited to our natural sight."

Verse 2 is talking about some of the most important Old Testament men and women of faith.  We will be studying each one in the coming months:

Abel

Enoch

Noah

Abraham (and Sarah)

Isaac

Jacob

Joseph

Moses

Rahab

Gideon

Barak

Samson

Jephthah

Again, here are the sidenotes in that 1805 Bible - this time about verse 2:

"For, by this realizing and evidencing exercise of faith, our godly ancestors all along from the time of the first promise till now, obtained an honorable testimony from God, part of which is contained in his Word." 

We touched on verse 3 in the introduction to the Frequency series (click HERE to read: "Energy, Frequency & Vibration #1 - God's Power")

God spoke everything into existence.  See verse 3 above - the worlds were framed (other Bible versions say "formed") by the word of God.

Below is the note about verse 3 from the 1805 Bible:

"Though, from reason and observation, we are obliged to conclude the wonderful fabric of this world to have been the workmanship of God, yet it is by faith in his Word, as the evidence of things not seen, that we certainly know that God formed all things by a mere act of his Will, and that in such beautiful order, out of the mere chaos once covered with absolute darkness."   

We learn in Isaiah (see Scripture below) that God's Word shall accomplish what it is that He desires:

That is why it is so important for us to speak God's Word out loud.  (click HERE to read: "Energy, Frequency & Vibration #2 - God's Word").  It is still God's Word even if we say it and it will still accomplish what God desires.
