Wrong-Name REDS #1 Sunflower Variety
As always, September is SUNFLOWER Season here in God's Growing Garden. I usually buy most of my seeds from companies that I trust like "Mary's Heirloom Seeds" (see link in the next paragraph below). However, this year I saw a packet of seeds at my local Hardware Store and had to buy it - it was called "Drop Dead Red" and the picture on the packet showed all solid red sunflowers. Well, almost all of the seeds germinated BUT they were not solid red. Thirty-seven sunflowers from that packet grew and only seven of them were actually solid red like the picture portrayed. Anyway, all of the sunflowers were beautiful but I separated out my solid red flower photos and will show those to you in a different post later in the month. Today I am featuring what the majority of that "solid red" packet looked like. While there is a ring of brick-red in this flower - they are not solid red. (The butterflies loved this wrong-name flower - click HERE to view "Monarch Butterfly Visits the Sunflower Patch" ). This is the first sunflower post of 2025. Today I am featuring: WRONG-NAME REDS #1 Sunflower variety.

Before showing the featured pictures, I wanted to remind you why sunflowers are my favorite flower. Sunflowers always turn towards the sun - you can literally see them gently turning throughout the day to follow the sun. To be very clear - I am NOT a "sun" worshiper. However, I am a "Son" worshiper: Jesus Christ The Son of God and I strive every day to grow and turn towards Him in every aspect of my life.
ENJOY the following pictures!

In the two pictures below I captured a giant bumblebee en route to the sunflower (the first picture shows the bee in the air and the second picture after his safe-landing on the sunflower).
