The State of Michigan Ice Cubes
Just recently I found this delightful ice cube tray at a second hand store in my area - they are shaped like the state of Michigan!! I couldn't resist buying them and they were only 50 cents (a set of 2 trays).
Michigan has now been my home for half of my life. I have visited (or driven through) twenty of the fifty states and without a doubt Michigan is my favorite out of those twenty states. In my opinion there is no other state that offers so much. I will feature a few Michigan highlights below.
Michigan is known as "The Great Lakes State" since Michigan has shoreline on 4 of the 5 Great Lakes (Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake Superior). It is also known as the "Mitten State" because lower Michigan is shaped like a mitten. If you are from Michigan you are known as a Michigander and if you are from the Upper Peninsula you are known as a "Yooper".
Michigan is the state with the most lighthouses out of all fifty states - more than 150 lighthouses!
Michigan is known for it's automobile industry (the largest city is Detroit and it is known as the car capital of the world). This state is also known for agriculture, timber and fishing. I happen to live in a flat farming area of this lovely state and some say that this area is the ugliest part of Michigan but I think that farmland is beautiful and I feel blessed to be able to live here.
